Kristine Mellens photoKristine Mellens studied piano with Margaret Hair, Roy Shepherd and Mack Jost. She completed a B. Mus. and B. Ed. at Melbourne University with Mack Jost, specialising in Accompaniment and an MA in Music at Monash University. She also has a Cert IV in TAA and Cert IV in Special Education. She is currently taking a hiatus from her PhD in education. She is a Fellow of Trinity College, London and also studied singing for several years.

 

In 2006, Kristine returned to Australia after spending 9 years in Latvia, where she primarily worked in education, but also performed there and in Sweden, before her son, Martin, was born in 2000. Before moving to Latvia, Kristine had been President of the Geelong Musical Society for 11 years, Secretary of the Geelong Music Teachers Association, was Head of Music at Wantirna Secondary College and taught at Geelong Grammar, and had performed as soloist and accompanist extensively. She now teaches Music and EAL at Belmont High School and is an accompanist for several schools and many private exams and concerts. She is President of GAMA, Secretary of GAMA Musical Society of Geelong, is a member of GMTA and the Geelong Cemeteries Community Trust, was on Ceres PS Council for 9 years, from 2013-2015 was the accompanist for the Geelong Ladies Welsh Choir, and has been accompanist for the GAMA Geelong Chorale since 2010.
